dry run for the rain barrel

rain barel

I finally made it out southside to Roofing & Supplies for the some downspout. Like Siewers, this place has a specific range of items that are both exactly what we need and difficult to find elsewhere. And its a big plus that the store is on a funky section of Hull Street.

This lets us put the rain barrel in place & see how that goes. The downspout is up, but not attached — I’m still working on the siding right there. Tomorrow should see everything really get hooked up & maybe some rain, even.

I suspect that rain barrel will fill up very quickly once attached. I suggest getting the overflow spout ready and pointed away from your house.

I’m curious to see how much water we collect. We’ve got a 2nd barrel that hooks up to this one. Just sitting in the yard for past few months, the 2 barrels have gotten heavy with water.

I just called one of the local Pleasants Hardware stores and some of the stores do carry them and others will order you one. It sounds like they are 60 gallon black for 119.99

If you have an Entertainment book or other source, you may be able to get a coupon for Ace Hardware/Pleasants to save even more$.

    Hope this helps.

We’re going to get one tomorrow unless I find a less expensive local source before that!

We got the barrels on Craig’s List. Tricycle Gardens does workshops, too.

    Funky?

Like, a mix of light industrial and old houses and ‘hood.
