the neighbors will like this one
Picking up where we left off almost exactly 3 years ago, the last 2 days have been spent working on the siding on the most prominent corner of our house. This is the first work that we’ve done in a while that can be seen from the street. Thankfully we’ve definitely gotten better at putting up siding.
We had to pull the old, wasted siding; that was the easy part. There is a run of 1X12 along the top of the wall that came out as well (this piece has a name?). Two of the studs had significant water/termite damage and had to be dealt with. This was not so fun at 25 feet up the ladder.
This all came with another “I’m going to lose sleep over this” discovery, in that there is more damaged wood needing attention up in that front corner of the house. We had to back off of this, though — it is beyond our skills to get up into that kind of work from the ladder. Something to look forward to when we gut the upstairs, I guess.
The new siding is up, and got a coat of primer after this photo was taken. Caulk and putty go on tomorrow, and if it doesn’t rain then this wall might be pinked on Saturday. The 1X12 run is on the schedule for tomorrow, if the wasps don’t make it too difficult.

the 1×12…are you talking about the fascia board? i can’t wait to see it pinked and pretty.
yep, that’s the word. I knew that I’d heard it called something & Ronni was able to name it right away, too.
