the Victorians of Eureka, California

We recently rolled through Eureka, California, en route from Monterey to Portland. Our detour to see the redwoods surprised us with a chance to see some really amazing west coast Victorians

The jewell of Eureka is the Carson Mansion, “the home is the most recognizable landmark on the California North Coast [and] one of the most written about, and photographed Victorian houses in California, and perhaps in the United States.” Directly across the street is the Milton Carson Home (aka the “Pink Lady”).

damn, if I’d made that connection I’d have dropped you a line. We were in late and out early & really didn’t get to see much of the city.

I love Victorian houses, but a lot of times my first thought is “it must suck to paint that house.”
