porch demo w/ mummified opossum

At the end of day 1, the demolition is done and the truck is full of stuff to take to the dump. We found 4 or 5 old soda bottles and a mummified opossum.

We put up the new supports, took down the 2×4 handrails, pulled up the flooring, and pulled all of the mostly rotted supports from underneath. Straight forward enough, but surprisingly exhausting.

possum mummy
I almost grabbed the tail of this before I saw what it was.

The next step is to dig for the footings for the piers and get the truck emptied.

I lived over on 2500 block of East Grace
in the 80’s. My roommate had a possum climb up the tree, onto the balcony and into her bedroom window via a loose screen. She felt something furry and thought it was the cat until it bit her toe. At which point she flipped on the light and saw a possum in her room.
    POSSUM.

And since it ran off, she had to get rabies shots!
Glad your possum was just mummified!
