now with no extra debt

The refinance came through and we’re in the process of clearing out the debt that we’re wracked up on this so far.

We haven’t heard back about tax abatement yet, so we don’t know where the city puts the house value. The bank was willing to say that our house was worth more than we needed or have spent so far, so this is good. We’ve pulled out the $$$ of some of that added value and have set in motion paying off our ridiculous credit cards, familial loans, and, as a bonus, the pickup truck. After the dust settles, we’ll have a little tiny chunk left to start the net round of expensive work (probably the downstairs bathroom).

We’re really not going to know what do with ourselves without credit card debt *looming* over us. We’ve vowed not to get into a hole like that again, no matter what…

I hope it all works out for you.

This is one area in which I feel kind of lucky. I have zero debt and no mortgage payment on my house. But then again, it looks like hell and will probably take an eon to fix up!
