tax abatement deadline notice
We received the notice in the mail a few days ago that our final application for the real estate tax abatement is due by November 15.
Just over 3 years ago, we filed the papers for tax abatement. Basically, if we raise the value of the house 20% or more in rehabbing back to a single-family residence, we’ll get a good break on our taxes for the next 10-15 years.
We had great plans this summer to get some final things taken care, which we mostly accomplished before school season started. Considering where we started, we think that we’ve probably got it, even though we are still in an unfinished state. Our downstairs bathroom, while roughed in, is now a much-needed storage room.
So we’ve sent the papers in and now have to really finish the new walls downstairs. We’ve got some painting to coat again and we’ve scheduled to get the floors refinshed next week. Before that can go off, we’ve got do a little repair to some of the floor boards. One last push before we really shut down for the season…

Sometimes it’s good to have a solid deadline to help you stay focused and get a lot done in your last big push. Good luck!
You guys have done an amazing transformation of that house already. Good luck with the official word, but I think you’ve done it. Besides, how can you put a value on all those carcasses you removed?
