replacing a tall and skinny window
Last Thursday afternoon, someone broke into our house. In the process, they mangled a window pretty good.
The window has 3 pieces, all of which are messed up in some way. The lock is popped and broken on the top pieces, the bottom section has broken glass, and the frame is tristed and scraped up. This is a vinyl window, so replacement not repair is the solution.
The mangled window is a custom size, approximately 74X24 inches. We’ve ordered the window, it’ll have to be made and then shipped to us. Until then, we have a plywood window, hurricane-style. This kind of sucks.
I’d post a picture, but I can’t seem to find my camera.
We’re ok, just missing some stuff. The scary part is that our little dog got out and was found several blocks away (steadily cruising in the wrong direction…). What if …?

Ugh - that sucks.
My biggest fear with robbery is our pets getting out/lost/hurt. Come in, take what you want, but please shut the door and make sure 2 dogs and 2 cats are safely secured inside the house, thanks.
Major bummer. Just last week I was woken up by someone trying to open my front door. I went outside and found a 40 something year old meth additc going through the glovebox in my truck. They are lucky I forgot to grab the baseball bat. The cops came and drove around the block and didn’t the person. There was nothing for them to steal in the truck.
Hank going in the ‘wrong direction’?
Surely he was tracking the infernal criminal in order to exact vengeance of such unmitigated horror that the bandit’s shoes (and lower portion of socks) would not likely see another clean day on God’s green Earth. You do that steady beast a great disservice. His loyalty to you and your honor should not be in question.
Also, did your alarm go off?
Sorry to hear about this but glad your little guy is OK. That part would probably rattle me the most.
Hey John, sorry to hear the crappy news. Sounds like things are heating up, up there. I’m glad everyone is alright.
Damn, man…. A destroyed window, a violated home, and a stolen Felt. I’m assuming you were using something like Speedplay, Look, or Time pedals on it. I doubt that they rode it much. I assume you’ve been watching for it on eBay? I’d also check as many pawn shops and local college campuses as possible. Go to bike races; jerks in Indy were trying to sell stolen bikes (Colnago, Specialized, Merlin, Roark, etc) at local road races and triathlons.
Good luck, and I hope they nail the #$%#$@s who have been doing this.
