the first siding of the season
This summer WE WILL get the house painted. Having finished pulling shingles, we now have to fix some of the aged siding.
We were going to start back at the front of the house where we had some some progress on the siding last year. We decided to start on the back of the house instead, though, for a few reasons. First, once we get the siding solid&primed, we can play with testing the actual color that will go up. Second, since we’re spending more time in the back yard these days, having the back of the house nice first will make more of an impact of how we experience the house.

This is what we started with back in 2003. We started pulling these in 2004 and finished last summer.

The first progress on getting things nice.
Sitting out back admiring the change, we had the idea we could really do the whole painting process in stages. Instead of fixing and priming the entire house and then painting, we can fix/prime/paint first the back, and the repeat process on the other sections. It’ll make the house look a little goofy from some angles for a weeks, but it really appeals to our need for instant gratification. Just think — the back of the house could be freakin’ pink inside of a week!
