an old Ford tractor

We’ve bought many tools while working on this house, none as wonderful as my Uncle Red’s old Ford tractor.

He still uses this to cut his grass and to keep the field next door cut. The tractor is either 50 years old or from the 50s, memory fails me.

Aren’t tractors awesome? I had never paid attention to them until we moved here and I started going to machinery auctions with my Dad. There’s nothing more fun than driving out to the middle of nowhere, and standing in a field of equipment all day, waiting to bid on one of these beautiful old tractors. Sadly, much of the time, the engines are “stuck” on the really old ones. My grandfather buys old John Deeres from his fellow farmers as they retire, and he fixes them up. He lined them all up in front of his farm last year and took a photo. He’s so proud of those.
