restoration near by

Removal of the stucco from a former fish market a few blocks away has uncovered an old Bromo-Seltzer sign.

The building permit in the window describes the work as ‘light remodeling’. It also describes the building as a restaurant.

I’d love to take the stucco off of our place. I’ve taken off a small portion, and it was really difficult. A lot of the cedar siding is cracked from the metal lathe being nailed on as well.

That’s so cool. I don’t know what it is about the removal of stucco that gets me so giddy… what a great time capsule they uncovered there!

I remember Rexall’s from when I was little in the 70’s. Neat treasure!

We have been doing a small dig in our back yard on and off for the last 3 years, originally to help date our house, now just for fun (we have found a huge garbage pit and an area where part of the house burnt down). Just last weekend we came up with an old Bromo Seltzer blue bottle, probably 1920s/1930s. We have found a total of 40 different intact bottles so far, besides all the other “stuff” we’ve uncovered. Try your own backyard sometime.

I drove by it the other day while making my Meals on Wheels deliveries. Pretty cool. I hope they are able to save it somehow.

Hey guys, I have an older home here in Richmond’s East End, and had mold problems after the storms we had, as I was flooded in the basement. I found a unit that can help take out that moisture. It is installed in my basement. After running it for a few months, the improvement to air quality is drastic. I can help you get this unit too, it runs on 110 so it is cheap on electricity. I can’t say enough good things about it. Call me to set up an appointment, I will tell you more about it I know you will love one in your home. (804) 938-0167. Great for the older homes, and new homes too. Thanks, Jane
