painting ceilings is not fun

I’ve spent the last few afternoons after work making the back porch ready to be painted, puttying egregious nail holes and priming priming priming.

It has been a nice routine to have. By 4pm or so I have been able to be out back, stereo perfect, making things solid and ready. The clean coat of primer makes everything so fresh… This weekend we hope to get some color put down, and that might just be stunning.

Getting up close and personal with much of the porch has been a gratifying experience. Despite the screen thing, they did a great job. The details of the craftsmanship are revealing themselves to us as we spend more time out there. The re-use of a good portion of the original wood keeps the porch from seeming too new in comparison to the rest of the house. It is new, but with texture.
