2 great books

We received a great idea book and a great how-to book for xmas.

Based on a a good review that we read, one of the books from our wishlist that we got received for xmas was Built-In Furniture - A Gallery of Design Ideas for the Home by Jim Tolpin. Our recent opening of the space behind the stairs totally has us jonesing to get to the point where we can start to think about building into the house. The picture to the right is from the book and is very close to what we’d like to do in the same space.

Incidentally, the book also shows how to build hidden doors into bookshelves (and I keep scheming on how to put a hidden passageway somewhere in here).

We also received the Better Homes and Gardens Big Book of Home How-To. The publisher calls it ‘the largest DIY home-improvement book on the market’, doing justice to the breadth, depth, and physical scale of the book — it is a big one… The details that jumped off of the pages just flipping through gave me a little boost of confidence that we might actually be able to pull this off.
