recent contractor overload
We recently paid other people to do things for us that we could not do ourselves. While they did great work, the worrying about the final product and the money spent and just having so many people in and out of the house stressed us out.
The last week that the great porch rebuild was going on, we also had our furnace and ductwork downstairs replaced. After some initial difficulty, we finally found a decent company (James River Heating and Air) to do the work. They did good work and were actually finished a day ahead of schedual; we would easily recommend them.
That the porch and heating system were both being rebuilt while we were at work was kind of cool. In that way, it was neat having things happen while we were gone. Having so many people in and out of the house, and stressing that the cats might get out or that the work would end up being a problem took it’s toll, though. Commiting to spending that much money is a bit taxing, too. We were glad to have everything done and well finished. After this, we’ve kind of lost our momentum for getting anything substantial accomplished. We’re resting…
