living in it
It’s been raining for days and there is too much else to do; it’ll be at least the weekend before we can get make any more progress on the house. Right now we are just living in it.
And, since we stopped mid-project last time, there are still piles of plaster and lathe on the floor downstairs. Everything down there is dusty. The tools aren’t put away. There are piles of lathe and shingles in the side yard. This is all just part of the environment now. Some people have furniture and/or plants; we have tarps and shingles and caulk (etc.).
Cleaning up for guests has an industrial quality that it never really did before. At least there are no children involved (that would presumably want to use a handrail)(or eat random nails or whatever).

When will it ever stop raining? Three of my houses had small leaks that I had to fix over the weekend. It didnt take long for them to be put to the test. Hopefully another one wont spring up before the rains stop.
I can appreciate your living situation– my house projects always seems to be a lower priority than everything else…I dont think I will ever be able to finish up and begin living live “normal” folks. Peace.
You KNOW that we can relate to this. Yuck.
We ended up bagging plaster and lathe separately in contractor strength bags (I think that they are 6 mil or something like that.) And then stacking those all in one room and CLOSING THE DOOR. They stayed in there for weeks until we could get around to disposal. In the meantime, el yucko.
Hang in there.
