All I can say is HOLY $#*&.
Great house. What a project! I love your site. I will send optimistic, good thoughts to help you. Pam
I swear people who decide to take on these projects are just as special as the projects themselves. There are times when I wonder what the hell we were thinking because we both sold our newer homes when we decided to get married and while visiting my mom saw this house and looked it up on the internet and just had to have it. We felt it was US; and it is and everyone who comes over wants to sit and stay and end up leaving way too late then they anticipated.
This house is no where near as large as yours but size in the case of old houses doesn’t matter. It’s the love that goes into it while you begin to understand who she is as you labor on her and try to bring her back to her beautiful and gracious glory. There is nothing like the gratification of bringing something close to or near death back to life and then inviting people into a marvelous atmosphere of the past brought back to the present times with regard to its original design and beauty.
I don’t know how old you are but man I wish my husband and I had met and started this in our twenties. LOL
All the best with your hard work and sweat and pleasure as well as intermittent thoughts of “we must be mad”
Wow. It’s always interesting to see what people start with. It figures that it would be so un-updated, yet still have ugly newish kitchen cabinets.
I looked at a house that was even worse. If it hadn’t been for the mold, I’d probably be trying to fix it up right now… we all must be crazy.
The kitchens were definitely gross; it would’ve been great to at least have had something original left in there to be gross.
